Recently, the producer of TV show “KOREA VS JAPAN TOP10 SHOW” has issued an official statement regarding accusations of their unilateral removal of 7 Japanese cast members.

In particular, the production team said, “First of all, the ‘unilateral removal’ of the Japanese members is not true”, before going on to explain the circumstances.

“Normally, all cast members (including Korean and Japanese members) have signed contracts for one program for a season with a 12-episode standard. Then, the production team extended their contracts for one season and started Season 2”, the team wrote, adding, “Since the Japanese members’ schedules increased after appearing on ‘KOREA VS JAPAN TOP10 SHOW’, there were many cases where they were unable to participate in the recording, and sometimes their schedules were disrupted and replacements had to be urgently brought in.

They also said, “In particular, Rie barely appeared in Season 2, and the other members also appeared sporadically. Considering that it is not easy to travel back and forth between Korea and Japan, the production team is looking into various methods, such as flexibly having members with suitable schedules appear.”

“In this situation, the talk of the Japanese members being forced to leave makes the efforts of the production team, who have struggled to introduce songs from both countries, seem in vain. We plan to take legal action if false information that could destroy trust between the countries continues to spread in the future,” they concluded.

Meanwhile, previously on December 5, Ten Asia revealed that Japanese members of the show—Fukuda Mirai, Utagokoro Rie, Azuma Aki, Makoto, Sumida Aiko, Natsuko and Kanou Miyu—were recently informed of their removal from “KOREA VS JAPAN TOP10 SHOW” by the production team without prior discussion.

According to industry insiders, the reason for their sudden dismissal is linked to their affiliation with nCH Entertainment.

Following the recording on October 24, the production team reportedly informed the Japanese cast, “Today is your last recording session. Take care moving forward.” This announcement, made in the presence of writers and staff from the program, took the cast by surprise.

The final appearance of the Japanese members aired on November 25. However, for the subsequent episode on December 2, only Azuma Aki, also under nCH Entertainment, appeared on the show. It was later revealed that the production team personally contacted Azuma Aki for additional appearances, creating further speculation about their decision-making process.

Certain members, including Utagokoro Rie and Azuma Aki, have remaining unreleased footage, such as behind-the-scenes recordings from the “Korea-Japan King’s Exhibition” held in Japan in late November. Despite the sudden request for these additional recordings, the members reportedly participated out of dedication to the program.

Regarding the controversy, the “KOREA VS JAPAN TOP10 SHOW” production team explained, “The Japanese members have become very popular, and their schedules are incredibly packed. We agreed they would appear as availability allowed, but their agency has not been providing schedules for filming.”

In response, nCH Entertainment countered, “On October 24, the production team told the members it was their ‘final recording’, effectively bidding them farewell. The decision was abrupt and bewildering. The members deeply wanted to continue on the show and remain regretful about the situation.”

They further clarified, “While Rie occasionally faced scheduling challenges as a mother, the other members were fully available. It is unjust to be removed overnight from a program they appeared on weekly.”

This controversy is rooted in an ongoing legal dispute between “KOREA VS JAPAN TOP10 SHOW”’s production company, CReA Studio, and nCH Entertainment. The conflict centers on concert and management rights for “King of Singers 2”.

CReA Studio claims that nCH Entertainment violated their agreement by sublicensing some concert rights to another company without prior consultation.

Meanwhile, nCH Entertainment denies any breach of contract, arguing that their sublicensing was both valid under the agreement and known to CReA Studio. When CReA Studio later demanded contract termination, nCH Entertainment refused, prompting CReA Studio to unilaterally cancel the concert and management agreements.

Accordingly, the future of the “King of Singers 2” concert remains uncertain, with industry sources indicating that the ongoing legal battle casts doubt over its execution.
